Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurants in Salt Lake City
- Sages Cafe: Visit Sage’s Café on 473 East 300 South in Salt Lake City for organic vegetarian food and the best vegan options in the city. Salt Lake’s City Weekly Magazine has voted Sage’s Best Vegetarian Restaurant for the last 8 years in a row. Sage's prepares their food with locally produced breads, pastas, fruits, and vegetables wherever possible. Tuesday at Sage’s is Pizza Night with all you can eat pizza and salad and the last Friday of the month features raw foods with a four-course meal of raw cuisine.
- Vertical Diner; Try the Vertical Diner located at 2280 S. West Temple for vegetarian and vegan diner styled cuisine. Vertical diner would have to be the second best vegetarian restaurant in Utah and is owned by the same owners as Sage’s Café. The diner uses all vegetarian ingredients and tries to buy local and organic products when possible. Excellent for breakfast – try Vertical’s biscuits and gravy, fruit pancakes, or breakfast burrito with a choice of tofu, tempeh, boca burger, or “chicken.”
- Long Life Vegi House: For vegetarian Chinese food, give the Long Life Vegi House at 1353 East 3300 South a try. Long Life features an array of meat substitutes from tofu to wheat meats flavored like chicken or pork. The food at Long Life imitates Chinese meat dishes along with serving up vegetarian favorites. Seafood options are also available for fish eating veggies.
Vegetarian Friendly Restaurant in Salt Lake City
- One World Everybody Eats Cafe For a surely unique dining experience, visit the One World Café on 41 South 300 East near downtown Salt Lake City. One world has no set menu or prices for their food. One World serves up seasonally soups, salads, and entrees cafeteria style and always has vegetarian, vegan, and meat selections available. One World is a non-profit restaurant and asks that customers determine their own price for the meal and simply deposit money in a box while being served. The restaurant allows volunteers to working in the kitchen, garden, or other places in the community to earn their meal.
- Blue Plate Diner: The Blue Plate Diner, located at 2041 S 2100 E, features many vegan and vegetarian items on the menu. A favorite place for breakfast, Blue Plate serves breakfast all day and offers soy meat alternatives. Blue Plate’s oldies diner style design and outdoor patio make it a great place for weekend breakfast dates. Blue Plate also has an awesome veggie chili and denotes all vegan items on the menu.
- Bangkok Thai: Bangkok Thai, located at 3142 South Highland Drive, offers a special vegetarian menu in addition to their main menu. Bangkok Thai Restaurant offers numerous vegetarian and vegan options from appetizers, noodle dishes, curry specialties, and even deserts. Bangkok Thai is a deal at lunchtime – daily lunch specials are featured at only $5.99 (as of Spring 2009).
